The new geography curriculum reform advocates autonomous learning, cooperative learning and inquiry learning vigorously. Students are the subject of learning, generally speaking, the stronger autonomous learning ability they have, the more satisfaction they can feel in geography studies.The outstanding achievements will encourage them to set the great goals further, which can improve their independent learning ability continuously.In the teaching practice, cultivate students' autonomous learning ability can help teachers to improve students' awareness of active learning and good habits of study, not only does great practical significance on students' self-development and lifelong development, but also improves teachers' professional development greatly. The students with geography learning difficulties, as one of the groups of high school, is weaker in the awareness of autonomous learning ability from the other students, especially when compared with the students who always at top position in the class. So teachers should pay attention to cultivate autonomous learning ability during the teaching process.The paper is based on the theories of humanism, constructivism, meta-cognitive learning and information processing learning.After reviewing relevant literature about autonomous learning, the author sorts the existing research results, and designs a questionnaire to investigate the autonomous learning ability of senior high school students in reference to other scholars on the questionnaire of autonomous learning. Through the questionnaire survey, the author finds that the students with geography learning difficulties whose autonomous learning ability is relatively weak on the whole, especially the senior one students, there is still much room for improving, and showing a trend of increasing with the grades. When considered the gender differences, there is not a significant difference in average of six dimensions between male and female students.While, there is a certain gap between students with geography learning difficulties and excellent students overall comparison in independent learning.After obtaining data on the basis of quantitative, the author uses the social statistics software SPSS 19.0 to have a quantitative analysis from learning motivation, learning strategies, learning habits, learning environment, teachers and textbooks. Through regression analysis about three grade students with geography learning difficulties to explore factors that influence their self-learning ability, which is the innovation of this paper lies in. We find that the level in autonomous learning ability is mainly affected by the internal factors such as learning strategies and learning habits to students with geography learning difficulties.For the grade one and two, the autonomous learning ability is also affected by learning strategies and learning habits to a large extent, and for the grade three, learning strategies and learning motivation is particularly important, the influence of teachers and textbooks is not significant to them, which is different from the grade one and two.In the induction effects of different grades, the paper puts forward some strategies to improve students' autonomous learning ability. Such as strengthening the awareness of autonomous learning to improve learning strategies; in the right frame of mind to develop good habits; enhancing the value of knowledge to create a good learning environment; improving teachers' own literacy to increase the existence sense of students with learning difficulties. Our goal is to provide some useful guidances to help students with learning difficulties improve the levels of autonomous learning, and lead them out of the plight gradually.
