Ministry of Education issued the "outline of the basic education curriculum reform(Trial)" on 8 June 2001, which marks a new round of basic education curriculum reform. With the national basic education reform fully carried out, in the fall semester of 2010, Gansu province senior schools began to implement the experiments in the new curriculum in senior high schools. In order to deep and develop the new geography curriculum experiment, it's very important to investigate the present situation of new geography curriculum in general senior high schools. Therefore, by means of questionnaire and interview, the paper analyzes the current situation on the implementation in the new geography curriculum in Gansu province, summarizes achievements and experience, explores the problems and difficulties during the implementation, and tries to find out corresponding countermeasures and measures which are expected to implement the new geography curriculum experiment better. On the base of related data, the paper drew up a questionnaire and an outline of interview with scientific way, on 22 general senior high school of Gansu Province 187 geography teachers and 1369 students of paper questionnaire, interview geography teachers 21. And the real situation of the implementation of the new geography curriculum in Gansu province was also carried out by the combination of 200 Network questionnaires and 1500 Network questionnaires. The data obtained has been analyzed and discussed scientifically. After investigation and research, I found that the implementation in new geography curriculum in Gansu province has gotten some considerable results: 1) The teaching concept of geography teachers' has changed. Geography teachers can recognize the importance of the new curriculum ideas for teaching and learning so that they try exploring the effective teaching methods suitable for new teaching materials and students. 2) The teaching methods of geography teachers have changed. They create chances to let students learn and participate actively as well as learning autonomously and cooperatively. 3) After the implementation in the new curriculum, the relationship between teachers and students is gradually moving towards democratization.4) Students' learning style is turning from the traditional "instillation" into "independent cooperative inquiry".Although some considerable achievements have been made in the reform, there are still some deficiencies which need to be improved: 1) Geography teachers are lack of confidence to deepen the new geography curriculum reform. Their ideas and behavior are not in the same step. 2) There are some deviations between teaching materials and geography curriculum standards, and misunderstandings between the usage and processing of teaching materials. 3) Evaluation method of students' need to be further optimized for its oneness. 4) Teaching equipments in many schools need to be improved further. 5) The implementation in the new curriculums is still superficial.Based on the above, I tried to put up with some suggestions for improvement of the education authorities, schools and geography teachers.
