| As the information technology rapidly advances,“internet + education” become more popular.Chinese educate system started to focus on digitized education, trying to combine the information technology and tradition education in order to revolutionize the education system. Therefore all elements of the education systems need to adapt. The emerging of Micro-lecture is a part of such revolution, however, the new technique is not currently been effectively utilized, especially in the subject that is abstract and dull such as Math.Micro-Lecturing will help stimulate and motive students as well as make them effective learners. This article will discuss how ARCS Model of Motivational Design and Micro-Lectures can be effectively utilized in Math class under current environment, setting a foundation for future theory and application. The article will present the result of domestic and international studies of ARCS Model of Motivational Design and Micro-Lecture.It will briefly introduce the origin and development of Micro-lectures,compare and contract various types against traditional video lecture. In addition,it will discuss the basic concept of Micro-lecture,which includes ARCS Model of Motivational Design Theory and other theories, such as Fraction-learning Theory,Micro-learning Theory and B-learning Theory.Based on Middle and Elementary student’s developmental characteristics and cognitive skills, the educators will integrate the four steps of ARCS Model of Motivational Design into Math Micro-Lectures by using the current education technique as a tool. The data of real case study will help to determine the feasibility and effectiveness of the ARCS Model of Motivational Design in Middle and Elementary Math classes. This analysis will help to modify and improve the utilization of Micro-Lectures in Math Classes. This article is based on the case study of Micro-Lecture class of “Fraction Learning”from the third grade. The case study integrated Micro-lecture and ARCS Model of Motivational Design in every step of the learning process. It was found fully compatible and has shown to motivate and appeal to students, thus providing directions for this new technique, and hope more educators can validate and perfect this new method of learning. |
