After the supplement of new curriculum reform for basic education and the release of music course standards for compulsory education,primary schools and middle schools across China are experiencing the changes brought by the new standards.At the same time,the teaching philosophy and methods of music teachers also have changed greatly so that new activities appear in music classes.This exactly demonstrates the value of music course.Music can offer student aesthetic feeling,morality,wisdom and creativity;music can transfer great national culture to students and make them aware of the diversity of music culture around world;music can promote student's interpersonal skills,emotional communication with others and the establishment of harmonious society.In music classes of primary schools,there are mainly three forms:singing,appreciation and activities.In old music classes,much attention was paid to singing skills but not appreciation.This aroused many questions.What is the purpose of music appreciation course?What qualifications should teachers acquire?What skills should be taught to students?What teaching methods should a teacher master when they prepare for the class?How to make students form a good habit of listening?How do students experience and understand music in appreciation course?Can musical pieces adopted by the textbook meet r students'sentimental and psychological needs?Based on these questions,the author made a research on music appreciation courses in primary schools of Shijiazhuang.The purpose of the research is to acquire an overall understanding of music appreciation course's current situation in primary schools of Shijiazhuang.From point of teacher,student and textbook,the author made a survey on 30 music teachers and 450 students from 5 primary schools of Shijiazhuang,attempting to find out problems existing in practical teaching activities through an in-depth analysis.Make a discussion on these problems and propose some strategies and feasible solutions.There are three chapters.In Chapter I,the author make an analysis of the current situation of music appreciation courses in primary schools of Shijiazhuang based on questionnaires from teachers and students.In Chapter II,the author concludes the main problems existing in teaching practice through analysis of statistics.In Chapter III,the author proposes strategies and feasible solutions of the problems,which is the focus of the thesis.They include:1.Strengthening teachers training on music appreciation courses of primary schools;2.Develop students' good habit of music appreciation;3.Localize various teaching models for music;4.Make music appreciation course more interesting by proper using of multi-media equipments;5.Set questions to make the simplest interactive class;6.Increase assistant chapter of textbook----music library;7.Develop and study systematic teaching of music appreciation course.This thesis will offer some enlightenment to the supplement of new curriculum standards,and give some guidance to music teachers of primary and middle schools of Shijiazhuang on how to teach music appreciation lesson and promoting their qualifications and research capability,which will help raise up the level of music appreciation education of Shijiazhuang city.
