China's development into the new normal with economic growth having slowed, which ask to speed up the economic transformation, and increase the contribution of scientific and technological innovation to economic growth. These are the objective requirements that to train new science and technology talent and have a major breakthrough in science and technology. Encouraging Engineering College Teachers doing something in talent training, academic research and social service, which is undoubtedly very important. In the process of the development of market economy, university teachers, especially engineering college teachers, in a dilemma. The in-depth investigation and analysis show that the incentive mechanism lags behind the social and economic development, which cannot meet the needs of most teachers demand shift.This paper based on beyond contract incentives theory, taken a tracking survey to representative in Colleges of engineering, Collected the large sample of panel data of full-time teachers in 17 teaching college from 2011 to 2013. This paper empirically analyzes the effects of job design, professional promotion and reputation incentive on teacher's job performance. It is found that job design has a significant positive effect on Teachers' scientific research performance and teaching performance. Compared with the female teachers, male teachers are more sensitive to work design incentives in research performance and teaching performance. Reputation has a significant positive impact on Teachers' scientific research performance, but it has no significant impact on the teacher's teaching performance. Compared with the older teachers, young teachers are more sensitive to the performance of scientific research and teaching performance. Promotion has not significant impact on teachers' scientific research performance and teaching performance. Compared with the low professional title teachers, high professional title teachers after the promotion of scientific research performance dropped significantly, while there is no significant difference in teaching performance. The better the promotion is expected, the greater the incentive effect of teachers. After the critical age of retirement or loss of promotion opportunities, the promotion incentive effect is weakened.The analysis and conclusions of this thesis enrich the college teacher motivation research, and the research do helpful to our better understanding of the internal mechanism of incentive, so as to help relevant government regulatory agencies and management of colleges and universities formulate and perfect teacher incentive system construction, and improve the enthusiasm and creativity of teachers in high colleges and universities.
