Teachers are the foundation of university, university teachers' ability and level directly affects the quality of higher education. Therefore, how to make the university teachers has once again become the soul of the university is a question.It is worthy considering for universities. Promoting the development of teachers is also a basic task of universities. This article tries to explore operational type and mechanism and some question and the future in the faculty development centers in Taiwan from different perspectives.And it can give some recommendations to the mainland area.Teaching quality is declining with the universalization of higher education.With the government plans show up such as teaching excellence plan.So the faculty development centers are setting up at the same time.These centers had experienced four history stage include audio-visual teaching orgnazition periods, the resource of studying periods, the resources of teaching periods, organize diviersified periods. Faculty development center has its different features in each stage.According to its services and functions of the different Faculty development Centers, those centers divided into three types, named academic,teaching and student development-oriented. Although the primary functions of organization are to promote the university teachers' teaching and scientific research ability. Or providing a lot of services for the students. But in the implementation of the specific measures are different. No matter what kind of organization will be aimed at, different types of teachers and students implement different service project.The faculty development is growing so fast because its operation mechanism.The operational mechanism including decision-making,motivation,supervision,evaluation four aspects.All kinds of university in Taiwan in order to promote the development of the teachers, improve teachers' teaching and scientific research ability, are spare no effort to perfect the construction of teachers' teaching development center. However, the centers in Taiwan still have some problems, such as the role and function problems, the structure of the teachers, the participation problem, and funds and etc.University teacher development work has just started in mainland area, there are five periods of initial exploration, recovery, organization networking and legalization. The faculty development institutions but still have many deficiencies. So we need to base on the experience of the faculty development center in Taiwan, and to improve the teaching effect in mainland area.
