“Apprenticeship” has always been a major way to impart a certain industry or professional skills, which has a long history both in China and abroad. After the World War II, because of the great success of “Dual System” vocational education system, modern apprenticeship has been received widely and highly concerned from countries. They began to undertake practical and theoretical study in various forms. This paper attempts to explore the positive role of Modern Apprenticeship on secondary vocational schools in talent cultivation, analysis the status and emerging issues of implementation of modern apprenticeship in secondary vocational schools, put forward methods and measures to improve the modern apprentice system in secondary vocational schools.In this paper, through the literature reviews and the data collection, we can know that Modern Apprenticeship can promote industry enterprises to participate in vocational education personnel training, can realize the docking of the professional setting and industry demand, the docking of curriculum content and professional standards, the docking of teaching process and the production process and can improve the quality of personnel training.This paper analyzes the status quo and existing problems of the implementation of the modern apprenticeship in the secondary vocational schools by means of questionnaire survey and interviews. More and more secondary vocational schools are found to implement Modern Apprenticeship through data collection, some basic features of Modern Apprenticeship have been achieved in the process of implementation: jointly developing personnel training programs by both schools and enterprises, double student apprentices identity,double tutorial system, jointly drawing up and implementing apprentices assessment by schools and enterprises.Through the interviews and the literature summary, the paper sums the reasons of Modern Apprenticeship implementation problems in the secondary vocational schools, such as: government policy support which is not in place, the enterprise cooperative attitude which is not positive enough, construction of the tutor team which is not incentive enough and combination of "work" and "learning" which is of lack of design.This paper puts forward the countermeasures to improve Modern Apprenticeship in secondary vocational schools on the issues of the development of specific laws and regulations, the systematic design of “combining learning with working”, strengthening the dominant position of enterprises, the tutor team incentive and construction, respectively from the four sides of the government level, school level, enterprise level, school and enterprise level.
