There are two phenomenons existing in music teaching in middle school;one is that most of students like music instead of music class;the other is that most of students like singing and enjoying music pieces but not the ones in textbooks.The two phenomenons not only bring challenge to teachers but also are problems that music teaching in middle school has to face.Under the background of prevailing domestic and international popular music nowadays,students can access to endlessly emerging popular music through various media and elective programs.Particularly,the melody and rhythm of popular music are extremely consistent with personality and psychological demand of adolescent.And the lyric is more easily understood and more close to emotional need of them.However,the traditional teaching mode and textbooks,as the bond of music education,cannot fluently convey the music.Therefore,music teachers in middle school should face the phenomenon and dive into study of them.With the music teaching experience in middle school for years,and through survey that had been carried out among students to know about their actual thoughts and study on international advanced music education system and related domestic literatures,the author put her ideas into every music class,student's preparation after class and extracurricular activities and received positive effect to some extent.Hence,the author takes example of the 7thmiddle school campus Long Quan to discuss the music teaching in popular music class of middle school and put forward heropinions for setting up textbooks system there.The thesis consists of five chapters including introduction,summary of popular music teaching situation in middle school,questionnaires and its analysis about music teaching in 7th middle school campus Long Quan,optimized use of popular music elements in class,and textbook system construction with involving popular music in class.All of these aim to help student recognize the art and value ofmusic and listen to popular music selectively,lead students' attitude to excellent music pieces under the direction of teachers,and resolve the two objective phenomenons against teaching.
