Opportunities for education is continuing to be unequal since the reform and opening-up,this trend will hinder the integration process of urban and rural areas. As well as the unequal opportunities, our country's social mobility presents the downward trend in a certain extent, one important performance is the decline of the intergenerational education mobility, rural students have more difficulties climbing up the ladder by going to colleges or universities, if this phenomenon goes on, it will seriously damage the social justice and bring adverse effects in the long run.In order to investigate intergenerational transmission of education in China,we use the 2013 national data of Chinese General Social Survey (CGSS),and then carry on our work in the perspective of urban-rural difference and in the perspective of registered permanent residence(PPR) system. To be specific, main contents of this paper are as follows:first, combining with the related literature and the current situation in our country,we put forward the hypotheses that intergenerational transmission in education do exsit and the mobility in rural areas is weak;second,we use the transmission matrix to display the status quo,and find out that cities have better mobility;third, based on the previous analyses,we conduct standardized regressions to test the rural-urban differences of intergenerational transmission of education.,repectively,we apply OLS,Oprobit,Ologit,Logit methods to measure the influence of given variables on the educational levels of children;last but not the least,we do some Robust tests by constructing three groups according to the birth years. In conclusion, parents with better education backgrounds will tend to let their children get higher level of educatin, also children in urban areas have better educational opportunities, what's more,urban-rural differences in the intergenerational transmission of education do exist.Resources should be invested increasingly to rural areas and the students with rural PPR,and inqualities caused by gender or family background should be eliminated, thus enhancing the intergenerational education mobility.
