"Conversion between map and text" capability as the core content of geographic information analysis capability, but also an important part of the geographical picture of skills is the basis of high school geography teaching. With the advent of the era of big data, the development of the information age, GIS has become an important tool components and auxiliary teaching high school geography. As well as the creative use of GIS can overcome the disadvantages of paper maps using GIS capabilities of students is more intuitive, easier to understand presentation, and an interactive map reading. It can help students improve geographical subtle "Conversion between map and text" capability.In this study, a questionnaire survey and empirical studies show that:(1) According to the course characteristics of GIS and the operation of the software, sums up the Promise zoom, thematic map, query and measurement, Overlay, is not the same contrast, three-dimensional map, topographic profile FIG expansion module and GIS geography teaching in favor of the eight features that help teachers to use GIS assisted in the teaching of geography.
