As China is executing the Internationalized Education strategy,universitieslay more efforts on international exchanges and cooperation andgiving full play to overseas well-known teaching staffin teaching and research work.It is particularly more critical to employthe academic masters from abroad.Foreign teachers will grow in numbers at the same time.Also in universities,their role has become more important.In order to become into a research university,J University increases the foreign staff and employs particular talents,so as toimplement the strategic objectives of internationalized education.Thus,J University can rapidly improve the strength of teaching and research quality.At the same time,it bring in a new research topic—how to improve the J university foreign teachers for performance management.This paper clarifies the initiative and motivation of research work,and introduces the research status and technical means as well.Secondly,the author gives an overview of the performance management theory,including the definition of performance management and its implementation process.Then,the problem and the steps are discussed.Thirdly,based on the case studies of Performance Management of Foreign Teachers in J University,the author analyzes the status of the performance management system,discovers its problems andshowswhat needs to be improved.Finally,In particular,the paper modifies the aim of teaching and research of foreign teachers,then,focuses on the establishment of an evaluation system of foreign teachers’ quality based on KPI system.It identifies five key quality indicators of J university foreign teachers,which areprofessional quality of teacher,basic skill quality,scope of knowledge,scientific research quality and teaching quality.After that,he defines the weight of each index,proving that the key quality indicators of J university foreign teachers in the performance appraisal system can be quantified,behavioral and consistent with J University’s strategy.Also,the paper finds out and discusses the J University’s problem in the use of its performance evaluation.It studies the methods of implementation of the performance feedback and performance improvement,then and according to foreign teachers’ characters,this paper proposes a few measures to use performance appraisal results better.
