| This study use the "VIA-Youth" and "MHT" to investigate the positive characters and the mental heath status of high-grade (4-6 grades) pupils in Xiamen, Fujian province. And the relations between the positive characters and the mental heath status have been discussed. The conclusions are as follow:(1) The descending order of six dimensions of positive characters are:transcendence, wisdom and knowledge, temperance, courage, humanity and justice. The top five positive characters are:friendly, team spirit, self control, curious and humor. Faith sociability, insight discernment, caution and creativity are the last five positive psychological qualities.(2) There are significant differences of high-grade pupils’positive characters in gender, grade, only child or not, location of school, school type, family background.(3) The whole level of the high-grade pupils’mental health are normal, while the level of study anxiety is beyond the standard. All the items of mental health are listed as follow according to the sequences from high to low:study anxiety, self-accusation propensity, allergic propensity, somatic symptom, interpersonal communication anxiety, terror propensity,fear propensity, impulsion propensity and autism propensity. And the scores of the items are significant different in grade, students’leader or not, family background.(4)There is a significant negative correlation between the whole level of the high-grade pupils’mental health and the high-grade pupils’positive characters of wisdom and knowledge, courage, humanity, justice and temperance.(5) Humanity, transcendence and temperance get an obviously predictive effect on the whole level of the high-grade pupils’mental health and they can predict the mental health with the predictive validity of 30.4%. Temperance has an obviously predictive effect on the study anxiety. |
