Under the new educational concept of "humanism" and "for the students'lifelong development", teachers'multi-roles have become the key to achieving the success of education reform. The basic education reform launched by Ministry of Education is changing the teaching mode from the traditional teacher-centeredness to student-centeredness so as to achieve the socialist "people-oriented" core values. Based on the concept of autonomous, cooperative and inquisitive learning, flipped classroom has become one of the chief concerns of basic education. However, few studies are done currently at home on the diversification of teachers'roles from the perspective of flipped classroom concept. Especially the study on teachers'multi-roles in the foreign language classroom is extremely less. Therefore, this study probes into the English teachers' multi-roles in the middle school based on the fundamental education from the concept of the flipped classroom teaching model. This study aims to answer the following two questions:(1) What are the gaps between teachers'and students'expectations on teachers' roles and the practical behaviors of teachers'roles? (2) What kind of roles do the teachers perform in the concept of flipped classroom compared with the traditional classroom? Methods of literature review, questionnaire survey, classroom observation and interview etc. are adopted. First, this research is carried out in Hanyin Middle School, Xi'an No.26 Middle School, the Affiliated Middle school to Northwestern Polytechnical University, when the researcher carried out her educational internship and worked in the Branch Attached Middle School to Shaanxi Normal University. The questionnaire, classroom observations and interviews are investigated respectively in the five schools. Then, the successful implementation of the flipped classroom in Woodland Park High School in the United States is used as a reference to compare the teachers' roles in Chinese traditional classroom. In addition, the study of experimental comparison and mathematical statistics are launched, which presents the diversification of teachers' roles in class of middle school. It is found that almost 80% of English teachers have accepted the new concept of education reform. However, the practical transformation of teachers'roles is quite slow, and some teachers dare not to break through the traditional education ideas under the pressure of academic achievement, so it is actually difficult for teachers'single-role to meet the students' expectation on the diversity of teachers' roles under the curriculum reform. On the other hand, the flipped classroom through modern education and network media technology combined with MOOC, micro-class, computer-assisted instruction, APP platform teaching and virtual community teaching mode inverts the traditional relationship between "teachers' teaching and students' learning", advocating "students learn first, teachers teach later". This, so to speak, overturns the traditional teaching theory of classroom teaching. Teachers may act as such new roles as organizers, managers, promoters, encouragers, helpers, consultants, communicators, curriculum developers, agents, practice innovators, etc. Under the flipped classroom education concept, this study provides teachers with diversified roles paradigm and illustrates the necessity of teacher's role conversion and the new objective of teachers'multi-roles. The study provides some effective teaching strategies and solutions to the potential problems arising from the traditional teachers'roles in the process of classroom teaching in order to improve the classroom teaching effects and quality.
