School-based curriculum development is now the hot and difficult point of theeducational reform and study both inside and outside our country ,especially the conversionof the teachers'roles ,who are the important force of the development. Underlying the ideaof successfully developing school-based curriculum and advancing the conversion of theteachers'roles, some theoretical, comparative and case researches are made in this thesis toanalysis the problem of the conversion of the teachers'roles. On the base of the importanceof teachers'roles in school-based curriculum development, the thesis talks about thecontent of the conversion of the teachers'roles and the policies that solve the problem.The theory study and case researches are combined together with the purpose of providingreasonable and effective policy suggestions for the conversion of the teacher'roles.The thesis consists of four parts. The first part is introduction, which dissertates thecurrent situation and significance of the study and defines some fundamental conceptions.The second part talks about the importance of teachers in school-based curriculumdevelopment. On the base of it, compare the conflict of the roles between the ideal and thetraditional, and then conclude that the importance of the conversion. The third part is thecontent of the conversion, which has three aspects. To begin with, the roles in courses: frombreathe into to investigate; from the consumer of the courses to the producer of courses. Inaddition, the roles in the relation between teachers and students: from dominator todemocracy; from the authority in study to the top of equality. At last, the roles in the groupof the development: from the comparatively alone to absolutely cooperate. The last part isthe originality of the thesis, which comes to the policies of conversion on the basis of aboveanalyses: the base of the conversion——the advance of the teachers'diathesis; the key ofthe conversion——the concept and ability of school-based curriculum development; thesupport of the conversion——the makeup of school and the plans of the developmentoutside the school. All these are necessary.
