Research On The Improvement Of Professional Ability Of College Counselors In University Of Science And Engineering

College counselors system sets up from the beginning of 1950 s.After more than 60 years,it has made great contributions to the party and the country's higher education,however,it also faces challenge of the times.With the reform and opening up,in the beginning of 1990 s,due to the restructuring of state-owned enterprises,economic overheating,domestic economic weakness,the national economy effectively launched.In 1999,the state carried out the "university enrollment" policy,and college enrollment scale increased.In the large number of students and the level of the uneven in quality,how to effectively carry out the management of students,right to lead the ideological and political thought has become a challenge to college counselors.Many experts and scholars have done a lot of research on the counselors' professional ability,and give a lot of suggestions to the promotion of College Counselors' professional ability.However,after studying the previous literature review,paper has found that many previous research studied from the perspective of the theory,and given some general countermeasures and suggestions.This paper pointed out that the counselors work is complex and changeable,so researches of occupation ability construction should be more detailed,and author takes a well-known domestic universities of science and Engineering(D University)as a case to do empirical research.This study is mainly based on the questionnaire survey.The author designed this College Counsellors' Professional Level Questionnaire,which investigates the school counsellor's professional level including professional ability,key ability to selfevaluation.Questionnaire consists of basic information,professional level survey and training approach.Those three parts include a total of 50 questions.After analysing the questionnaire,the author found that there are two aspects of reasons which prevent the counsellors in D University from developing their professional level.Both counsellors themselves and the University have effects on this situation.In terms of counsellors,the major reasons are lack of crucial capacities and experiences.From University aspect,the drawbacks are due to unreasonable selection,inefficient professional training and insufficient research support.According to weaknesses mentioned above,the author proposed four methodologies to improve.Firstly,usingcorrect theoretical as guidance;secondly,eliminating disadvantages and promoting self-improvement;thirdly,improving relevant constitution and enhancing implementation;the last but not the least,concentrating on the core value of education with morality,while training the counsellors to become professional,expert and specialty.Hope this essay can facilitate the improvement of counsellors' professional level.
