The reading scores rise with the change of the college entrance examination.The reading strategy training of students' reading ability has practical meaning to improve students' reading ability.Although there have been lots of researches focusing on English reading strategy training,the researches of this topic aiming at poor areas are not enough,especially in the poor areas of Inner Mongolia.This research aims to prove that it can change students' study moods,arouse their reading interest,and,to a certain extent,help students build up the habits of using reading strategies through English reading strategy training in poor areas of Inner Mongolia.This research introduces the concepts,modes and strategies of reading,and makes a detailed analysis of reading strategies.The specific questions are as following:(1)Is reading strategies training for different types of questions is effective for those students whose reading performance is poor ?(2)The students can master the different reading strategies and apply the more reading strategies.The research mainly adopts the empirical research and the interview forstudents to answer the above mentioned research questions.The research focuses on three common types of examination questions in reading(topic of summarizing the main ideas of texts,topic of reviewing the details and the topic of speculating)to test if the students grasp the skills of reading.The research objects are 112 students from two classes of grade two,Tu Quan county No.1 middle school in Xing'an League Inner Mongolia.There are 56 students in each class,and the English levels are nearly the same–according to the exam scores in the past two years.One class is chosen to be the experimental class and the other one is the controlled class.Before the experiment,all of them do not know the knowledge of reading strategies.The reading materials are the book IV and the exercise book.The experimental time needs eight week.Eight weeks later,all the students take another test of reading.All of the data are tested by the SPSS.According to the result of independent sample t test,the experiment gets the conclusions that:(1)Different English reading strategies in class teaching can effectively improve the students' English reading grades;And reading strategies training for different types of strategies is valid,even for those students whose reading abilities are low and the whole knowledge basis are poor;(2)Students get the most obvious progress on types of reasoning or judging concepts.The teaching revelation of this research is that students should change their bad habits for English learning.The teachers in poor areas must adopt the scientific reading strategies teaching rather than the traditional translatingreading methods.Teachers should choose proper reading materials,combine reading strategy training with reading practice,help students to read it by themselves.
