The independence of mathematics learning capability was the ability of students to acquire mathematical knowledge,master necessary mathematical skills,improve mathematical literacy and access to development capacity during the course of mathematics learning.It's divided into self-planning,self-monitoring and self-reflection.The main purpose of this study is to develop a Mathematics independent learning capability scale fitting Chinese education,and provide a scientific and effective measurement tool for the study of the level of development and characteristics of our national students' Mathematics independent learning capability.On the basis of the related theory analysis,and discussing with experts,the connotation and constituent elements of Mathematics independent learning capability is constricted.According to it,the study designed a preliminary scale on junior high school students' mathematics independent learning capability.By the factor analysis of the informal scale,we developed the formal scale and verified its reliability and validity.We used the formal scale to investigate 503 junior high school students to find the level and some characters of them.Finally,the study given advises on how to improve the level of students' Mathematics independent learning capability.The main preliminary results of this study are as follows:(1)The independence of mathematics learning capability of junior high school students is a multi-level structure consisting self-planning,self-monitoring and self-reflection.The formal Mathematics independent learning capability scale has good reliability and validity,and is a scientific and effective instrument for assessing Mathematics independent learning capability of junior high school students.(2)In general,the current Mathematics learning capability of junior high school students is above the medium level.The order of the level of development of its dimensions is: self-monitoring > self-reflection > self-planning.(3)In the term of Mathematics learning capability of junior high school students,the students in cities are significantly higher than those in rural areas;and so is in the self-planning,self-monitoring and self-reflection.(4)There is no significant difference between key schools and general schools of the city on the Mathematics independent learning capability of junior high school students.(5)In the term of the overall Mathematics independent learning capability,self-planning and self-reflection of junior high school students,boys are significantly lower than those of girls;and in self-monitoring,there is no significant gender differences.There is no significant gender differences of city students,but the rural students are the opposite.(6)There is a significant grade differences on the Mathematics independent learning capability of junior high school students.Moreover,the general trend of Mathematics independent learning capability of junior high school students is as follows: Grade seven is the low stage of the development of the Mathematics independent learning capability of junior high school students;Grade eight is the growth stage of the development of Mathematics independent learning capability of junior high school students;Grade nine is the peak period of the development of Mathematics independent learning capability of junior high school students.(7)In the term of the overall Mathematics independent learning capability,there is a significant difference in different academic performance group,and the level of its development is: high Group>Medium Group> lower Group.And so is in the different grade.
