Time management can effectively affect the development of the individual's comprehensive ability and quality.It is an important ability to reflect the individual's psychological traits and personality characteristics.For university students,their learning ability,creativity,the shaping of their values and the maturity of logical thinking are completed in the university study period.Compared with the previous learning stage,the surge in spare time is a significant feature of university life.Individuals' time management ability can not only influence their independent learning ability directly,but also further affect their overall quality.Thus the management of spare time is particularly necessary.However,in real life,most students usually do not possess the ability to manage time.They often idle away their time by doing nothing.It can be seen that it's of great theoretical and practical significance to research the current situation of university students' time management ability as well as to disclose the deficiency and problems found in time management,which can help students manage their spare time better and boost quality education in our country.This paper first studies the value and necessity of extracurricular time management by referring to the core concepts such as "spare time" and "time management" through the literature reference method,as well as combs and explains the relevant literature and basic theory.Then,taking the colleges and universities in Nanchang as an example,this paper applies the questionnaire method to analyze the spare time management ability of university students in Nanchang.According to the collected data,we use the method of comparative means,bivariate contingency table cross-over analysis and so on to statistically analyze the students' spare time,how their time is spent,the degree of satisfaction and significance,the need of guidance and the reasons of poor management.Besides,this paper uses one-way variance,factor analysis and other methods to test and assess students' spare time management ability,and combines with gender,grade,academic performance ranking and other basic information to analyze and discuss the differences of management capacity between different groups.Finally,it's found from the data that the overall score level of students' spare time management capacity is not ideal.The vast majority of students have a good sense of spare time management,but behave not well in the implementation of time management,which can be seen from the terrible planning of their spare time and the lack of self-government.In addition,the ability of extracurricular time management did not show significant differences among students of different gender,but there are significant differences among different grades and students with different academic performance which shows a positive correlation with time management capacity in particular.These conclusions show the problems and shortcomings of the extracurricular time management of students for their own reasons and the management of the institutions and the education department.Through the analysis and discussion,the paper puts forward relevant advice and seeks effective time management methods from the aspects of the individual itself and the school to help students realize scientific and reliable time management.
