Nowdays the society is a technology and intellectual-intensive society,so countries attach great importance to technical education and talent competition.With the social demand for technology and talent continue to improve,the field of science and education reform is also ongoing.Countries have promulgated scientific curriculum standards to promote the development of science education and scientific reform.Course standards are guidance documents of the preparation of teaching materials and the implementation of teaching.The middle school science curriculum standards are the criterion and important basis for the implementation of middle school science curriculum,which plays an important role in the management of middle school science curriculum and curriculum quality evaluation,and also the important basis of middle school science curriculum examination proposition.In this study,the author selects the standards text and related materials of the current middle school science curriculum in China and the United States,using text analysis and comparison,and compare the two countries’ standards from the dimensions of "the revision of the standards,the revision process and the issuer","curriculum concept","curriculum standards goal","course contents" and "standards implementation suggestion".Through the comparison the author find that as a whole Chinese standards are in line with scientific development trends,and have some same points with American middle school science curriculum standards,but there are also differences,the specific differences are:the course objectives are not detailed;the curriculum standards are incoherent;curriculum standards lack "Engineering Design" and related requirements;the course contents are not deep enough;standards lack the integration of practice and knowledge.While the American middle school science curriculum standards in above aspects have their own unique advantages.In view of the shortcomings of our standards and draw lessons from the advantages of American curriculum standards,the author put forward some suggestions: refine the curriculum objectives;attach importance to the continuity of curriculum standards;appropriatly introduce engineering education;appropriatly deepen the course contents requirements;highlight the integration of practice and knowledge.
