With the progress of the eighth Elementary Education Reform in our country,the biology textbook of our country has changed greatly.Illustration,as the second language of the textbook,the increase of the usage and the improvement of the status of the textbook become one of the important changes of the textbook.Compared with the level of foreign illustrations,most of the relevant researches in our country come from the empirical summary,particularly lacking of theoretical basis and biology classroom practice.In view of this,this research is focus on this.Through combing the relevant theory at home and abroad with the investigation of study,the thesis is to study the two aspects of theory and practice,the initial study of textbook illustrations in secondary school biology classroom use.This study mainly includes four stages as the following:The first stage is literature research and combing illustrations related to the theory,which includes the characteristics of illustrations,functions,the factors of illustrative understanding,and relevant cognitive theories.The author is to summarize the existing researches at home and abroad,define the concepts of the illustration and textbook illustrations,and provide theoretical support for the development of detection tools.The second stage is the development of detection tools and preparation of the initial questionnaire.Through the theory of and front-line teacher interviews,the author takes the first step to make initial teacher questionnaire and student questionnaire.Through further revision and improvement,finally the author gets a formal questionnaire.The third stage is the implementation of questionnaires and data analysis.The reliability analysis,validity analysis and descriptive statistical analysis of the data were carried out by statistical analysis software SPSS17.0.The fourth stage is results of the survey through the practice of research and theoretical analysis.,including corresponding conclusions,analysis of some of the problems,and measures of solving problems..Through above processes and stages,this study is mainly obtained conclusions and achievements as the following:1.Textbook illustration has an important role in student learning,which can help students' understanding and remember biological knowledge.Many factors,such as the composition of the illustrations,the physical characteristics,the different types,the differences of learners,the different types of knowledge,will affect the learner's he level of understanding of illustrations and knowledge.Therefore,that will also affect the teacher's choice strategy.2.Through the investigation and study,the fact can be found that besides multimedia display illustrations,teachers should use blackboard,charts and illustrations as much as possible.According to the Theory of Multimedia Learning,teachers would rather use illustrations and explanations at the time of multimedia teaching,which is conducive to students' understanding and memory.3.At present,there are many decorative illustrations in our textbooks,which are not directly related to the content of the text.Those cannot help students understand the context of content.What's worse,even some of the details in illustrations will cause students to generate incorrect induction.
