Research On The Effect Of Training On The Empathic Capacity Of Teachers Engaged In Mental Health Education In Primary And Secondary Schools

Empathy is an important factor which predicts the effect of psychological counseling.For understanding the current mental health education teachers ' empathic characteristics,research I,the research objects of the study were 125 primary and secondary school mental health education teachers who are from all over the country and 352 undergraduate students majoring in psychology from two universities,they were investigated with the Interpersonal Reactivity Index and Helpful Responses Questionnaire.On this basis,research II,16 in-service psychological health education teachers and 10 pre-professional mental health education teachers were trained by the self-training empathy program to explore the ways to improve empathy levels.The results are as follows:(1)The expression empathy ability of mental health education teachers was at a low level.(2)The empathy ability of full-time mental health education teachers was significantly higher than that of part-time mental health education teachers.(3)The empathy ability of professional mental health education teachers was significantly higher than that of non-psychology mental health education teachers in the professional field.(4)The expression empathy ability of pre-service mental health education teachers with learning counseling skills was significantly higher than that of pre-service mental health education teachers who without learning counseling skills.(5)The expression empathy ability of mental health education of in-service teachers was significantly higher than the that of pre-service mental health education teachers.(6)Empathy training can effectively enhance mental health education teachers' empathy ability.
