The introduction to the author and writing background add the finishing touch in the process of reading teaching. Nevertheless, it fails to fulfill its function because of the neglect in our daily reading teaching practice. As for the inadequate solutions of this part in reading teaching, the problems which should be highlighted in this process are discussed through reflection by using the methods of literature research and case study.Firstly, is it necessary to introduce the author and writing background according to the styles with different characteristics? Secondly, if it is necessary, which part should be arranged in the classroom teaching? Which content can be chosen to present? In this paper, according to the differences of the teaching objectives and stylistic features for different styles, a general idea can be provided to the choice and arrangement of introduction to the author and writing background. Through its application in the practice of Chinese reading teaching in senior high school, the introduction to the author and the writing background can be better used to serve the Chinese reading teaching in senior high school.
