The theory of career anchor is put forward by the famous American professor Schine's researching group in the study on the career among the graduates of the Sloan School of Management,Massachusetts Institute of Technology,who is specialized in vocational guidance and human resource management.The theory of career anchor is one of the vital vocational guidance theories as well as one of the important theories of the modern human resource management.The scale of career anchor is widely applied into the study on the professional orientation of the employees,and help the employed position their occupations again,so as to realize the maximum match of human resource and positions.However,the theory of career anchor is seldom applied to the groups of college students.Besides,the related theoretical research is insufficient.Thus,undergraduate students selected as the research object,this paper is intended to explore the theory of career anchor in the application of the undergraduates' employment.The paper consists of six parts.The first part mainly introduces the background information of this study,the researching questions,the significance of the study,research methods,and the related theoretical research at home and abroad,including domestic and foreign research of career anchor and career guidance theory research at home and abroad.The second part mainly introduces the present condition of the career anchor among undergraduate students by the means of analyzing the data which is obtained by the questionnaires,and comparative study.The third part points out the problems that are found in the study on the undergraduates' career anchor and the problems that are found during the interview.The fourth part mainly analyzes the influence of undergraduate employment reasons from the following four aspects,including the social level,the policy level,school level and individual level.The fifth part introduces the role of the theory of career anchor on the undergraduates' career orientation,focusing on the four aspects,such as getting rid of the traditional value of employment as well as forming correct value of choosing profession,professional orientation and career planning.The sixth part is about the use of the theory of career anchor to help undergraduates choose occupations and suggestions on it.The last part is the summary of this research and its prospect.The study is based on the literature study,questionnaire and interview,choosing the undergraduates from 2 universities in Wuhan and the undergraduates from 2 universities in Guilin as the research object.Distributing 250 questionnaires,of 211 questionnaires are effectively received,and 30 undergraduate students of four universities are involved in the interview.According to the existing problems of the undergraduate employment and the causes,this paper explores the role of career anchor on the choice of undergraduates' occupation,and put forward some measures and suggestions.The main research conclusions are as follows:First,the theory of career anchor provides a new theoretical guidance for undergraduates in choosing a career.Second,the assessment scale of career anchor serves as a reliable assessment tool,to help undergraduates to decide the types of career anchor so that help them choose their occupations.Third,there are many problems in undergraduate career anchor.Through the survey,it finds that the undergraduates lack the knowledge of career anchor,without clear understanding on career choice and do not pay enough attention to the career planning,so they need to improve the career anchor.Fourth,the theory of career anchor is to help undergraduates position themselves,promote their employment consciousness,break the traditional concept of employment and form the correct value of choosing profession as well.Fifth,it is necessary to help undergraduates develop career anchor as soon as possible,and make appropriate adjustments in the process of learning practice in college,so that they can form relatively accurate career anchor eventually.
