| With the change of time,people attach more importance to educational equality.Textbook is an important medium in educational activities and its gender consciousness exerts a subtle influence on students’ identity of their gender role.Therefore,it is important to study the gender consciousness in textbooks and to promote the healthy development of students’ physical and mental health and gender equity education.Both sides of the straits embrace the same cultural original,therefore,the Chinese language course is an essential part both in primary and secondary education.The similarities and differences of cultures can also reflect the differences of concepts in the process of editing textbooks.On the basis of relevant researches at home and aboard as well as the theory of sociology and feminism,this thesis will take the Chinese textbooks of PEP and Hanlin Press of Taiwan as the study objects to make a comparative analysis of the gender consciousness in these two versions.First of all,this thesis makes a brief introduction to the related concepts and theories which include textbook,gender and social learning theory.Then,the author analyzes the illustrations and texts in the textbooks and draws conclusions: first,the number of females in illustrations,main characters of texts and the authors selected in these two editions is less than males;second,the characters in the texts are always stereotype.The social occupations of males are diversified and the social status is relatively high.While the social occupations of females are simpler.And there is a lack of contemporary excellent female representations in the textbook;thirdly,illustrations of females in Hanlin textbooks are more diversified than PEP.However,the characters in PEP textbooks are richer than that in Hanllin press because of the larger capacity.Then,the author makes an attribution analysis of current situation and concludes that both economy,political factors,traditional culture and personal consciousness of editors will lead to the above situations.Finally,the study finds that gender consciousness in textbooks has some negative impacts on educational equality and students’ career choice in the future.In the current Chinese teaching process,educators should take measures such as teaching concept,teaching preparation and teaching implement to mitigate negative effects. |
