Nowadays, the application of information technology in the education has been expanding and deepening, which provides a powerful driving force to promote the reform and development of higher education. With the support of information technology,making a complete transformation from teaching-centered to learning-centered is becoming a basic orientation of college teaching reform. The flipped classroom, as a typical learning-centered model with the support of information technology, has provided a new direction for Chinese college teaching reform.Based on the perspective of student engagement, the study takes "Effective Teaching" as an example, through the comparative experiment between the Flipped Classroom and the Traditional Teaching in two parallel classes of pedagogy specialty,analyzes the characteristics of college student engagement in flipped classroom, validates the effectiveness of the flipped classroom model in college liberal arts courses, and puts forward strategies to launching a flipped classroom effectively.This paper consists of six parts.The first part: the introduction. This part mainly introduces research background,research content, research significance, research ideas and methods, and puts forward the research hypothesis.The second part: the literature review. This paper summarizes the domestic and foreign research on the flipped classroom, and then points out the outline of the study; at the same time, through summarizing the domestic and foreign research on the student engagement, this paper defines the concept of student' learning engagement, designs the framework of the student' learning engagement questionnaire in this study.The third part: the overview of the flipped classroom. This part defines the concept of the Flipped Classroom in this study. Based on the definition, it mainly analyzes the essence and characteristics of the Flipped Classroom by comparing with lecture-based teaching model.The Fourth part: the construction of College Student' Learning Engagement Questionnaire. Based on NSSE and NSSE-China, this paper constructs the study questionnaire.The fifth part: the investigation and analysis of the college student' learning engagement in Effective Teaching course in a flipped model. This part takes "Effective Teaching" as an example, through the comparative experiment between the Flipped Classroom and the Traditional Teaching in two parallel classes of pedagogy specialty,fully analyzes the difference between two modes in the level of student' learning engagement, the score of final examination, student satisfaction from the angle of statistics, validates the effectiveness of the Flipped Classroom Model in college liberal arts courses.The sixth part: conclusions and recommendations. The research shows that the Flipped Classroom in liberal arts courses is conducive to improving the level of student'learning engagement, student academic achievement and promoting student' ability development, improving student satisfaction. There is no significant difference between two modes in the final examination.On the basis of the above research, this paper put forward the conditions and strategies to launch a College Flipped Classroom effectively: establishing"student-centered" education and teaching philosophy; integrating diverse teaching methods; creating an open, inclusive, encouraging and supportive classroom climate;building a comprehensive mechanism to promote student' learning engagement;establishing effective teaching quality evaluation system suited for flipped classroom;building comprehensive information learning environment.
