STEM education is a fusion of science, technology, engineering and mathematics four disciplines of education, designed to cultivate the context of economic globalization with 21st century ability of complex talents, began in the United States. Currently, STEM education is a number of countries’ attention. At the same time, in our country this year has just promulgated the "compulsory education primary school science curriculum standards" also clear the S, T and E in the importance of primary school science.Although STEM education is taken seriously, but in the basic education stage of the actual development is still slightly inadequate. In order to understand the development of STEM education in the American primary school stage and provide reference for the education of STEM in basic education in our country, this paper will use the method of quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis from the perspective of STEM education,An Analysis of the Science of American mainstream science textbook. This paper mainly consists of the following parts:Chapter 1, Introduction. From STEM to become the hotspot of American education reform, China’s primary school science education on the needs of STEM education and the value of teaching materials in three aspects of the background, to clarify the significance of this study, and then outline the development of STEM education and domestic and international research status quo.Chapter 2, Research Design. Based on the study of STEM education and the research status of domestic and foreign research, this paper chooses the research object,determines the research content and selects the research method.Chapter 3, based on the STEM of quantitative analysis of Science teaching material.This chapter presents the quantitative results of STEM classification, and analyzes the results from three aspects: breadth of knowledge, depth of knowledge and fusion of knowledge.Chapter 4, based on the STEM of qualitative analysis of Science teaching material .This chapter analyzes the characteristics of the teaching materials from the perspective of the design, content arrangement, knowledge presentation and value orientation of the teaching materials. It is found that the goal of the teaching materials is to cultivate the composite STEM talents with comprehensive knowledge of multidisciplinary knowledge, which is consistent with the goal of national STEM educationChapter 5, Conclusion and Implications. On the basis of the analysis of the results of the previous two chapters, the conclusion is as follows: 1. Science teaching materials focus on the link between STEM education and life; 2. Pay attention to the interdisciplinary interdisciplinary; 3. Focus on carrying out exploring experimental and exploratory activities; 4. Concerned about the integration of the same time not forget the importance of single subjects. And to obtain enlightenment: 1. Establish the correct concept of scientific education; 2. Focus on the interdisciplinary integration; 3. Pay attention to students to participate in scientific practice; 4. Grasp the degree of integration.Chapter 6, Inadequacies and Prospects. Describe the shortcomings of this study, and think and look forward to the future research in this area.
