| Chinese grammar is very important for Thai students to learn Chinese. The conceptual teaching method is a kind of Chinese grammar teaching skill, but it is less used in Thailand. According to the author’s many years of experience in Chinese teaching, students are not very interested in Chinese grammar. They think it is difficult to grasp and understand,and therefore do not want to learn Chinese grammar. In teaching procedure, we try to make students interested in Chinese grammar, and gradually learn and use Chinese grammar. We refer to the previous research on the application of conceptual teaching method in Chinese,English and Spanish, and some research results of Chinese grammar teaching. According to the conceptual teaching steps, language theory and cultural theory, we do experimental research on the conceptual teaching method, and do statistical analysis of relevant data related to how the students grasp knowledge of grammar. After learning Chinese grammar for one month, in comparison to the students taught by traditional teaching method(interpretation method, structure method, game method, situational method), the students taught by the conceptual teaching method have higher score. Through the 5 steps of the conceptual teaching method, students can use their own thinking to apply knowledge in different situations. Students can answer questions such as "up","down","before","after","medium" etc. and grasp the related vocabulary and grammar items. But we think that the conceptual teaching method has both advantages and disadvantages. In this paper, through the test before learning and the test after learning, and induction and analysis of related questionnaire, hopefully we can do contribution to improving the Chinese grammar teaching in Thailand. |
