| Research work on teachers in Higher Vocational Colleges has a long history,but works particularly on the Quality of Work and Life(QWL)of the teachers in Higher Vocational Colleges are a new proposition.Improvement in the quality of work and life of teachers in Higher Vocational Colleges by paying attention to their state of life can provide a strong guarantee of ensuring higher quality of education in our country.Teachers have generally been very concerned about social development.There has been a lot of academic research by teachers prepared from the working perspective emphasizing on the professional development of teachers.Their research however ignored the characteristics of the common people.Some scholars feel that teaching is not only a profession,but also a way of life.Therefore,it is imperative that a good foundation is setup for improving the teaching fraternity by accurately tackling the aspect of Quality of Work and Life of teachers in Higher Vocational Colleges.From the general life point of view,teachers in Higher Vocational Colleges are firstly regarded as ‘ordinary people’,and then later referred to as ‘professionals’.By combining the theoretical content of the quality of work and life of teachers in Higher Vocational Colleges,teachers from Tianjin Light Industrial Vocational Technical College were selected as a sample in this research.The results revealed an in-depth understanding of the current situation regarding the quality of work and life of teachers in Higher Vocational Colleges.The data was collected through distribution of questionnaires and conduction of interviews.The study mainly focuses on the following three aspects:(1)The understanding of the current situation of the quality of work and life of teachers in Higher Vocational Colleges,and the three dimensions namely personal work,environment and work environment,health and family are clearly evaluated.(2)Analysis of the problems in the work and life quality of teachers in Higher Vocational colleges.(3)Putting forward the counter-measures and suggestions.The main results show that the quality of work and life of teachers in Higher Vocational Colleges is in good condition.From the demographic difference test it was found that the quality of work and life of teachers in Higher Vocational Colleges showed that there were differences between teachers in terms of gender and age.From the personal work perspective,long working time,pressure of work,low career satisfaction level,the lack of sense of self achievement and high work load.From the aspects of environment and working atmosphere,organizational rules and management system is not perfect,lack of a more scientific and humanized teacher management system,the work atmosphere does not satisfy the situation.At the same time,Higher Vocational College teachers are expected to be ranked higher,but the social status is not high;from the health and family management,the physical and mental health of teachers in vocational colleges is in a sub-healthy state,because work and family relations are not well coordinated.In line with the existing problems,the following suggestions are hereby put forward: Firstly,strengthening self management of teachers in Higher Vocational Colleges,and also strengthening of the management strategy of the school management to improve system performance;Secondly,enhancing good working atmosphere by strengthening the social responsibility system;Thirdly,to balance the relationship between work,life and health. |
