In recent years,Teaching Chinese as a foreign language has been paid more and more attention in Thailand,due to attract the needs of Chinese people into Thailand,also made some achievements.However,it also exposed a lot of problems under surface.The most prominent is Thai students depended on Pinyin excessively and ignore the teaching of Chinese characters in class.Due to the lack of teachers and teachers' teaching ability,both the Thai local teachers and the Chinese volunteer teachers are reliance on pinyin,which hinders the further development of Chinese teaching.Under this situation,it's imperative to research how to optimize the teaching of Chinese characters in Thai high school students.The "word-based" teaching method utilizes the characteristics and laws of the Chinese characters,and puts the teaching focus on the teaching of Chinese characters.It is undoubtedly an important guiding role for the teaching of Chinese characters in the middle school students in Thailand,Which can improve the status quo of Chinese characters teaching in middle school students in Thailand.This paper makes a survey of the status quo of Chinese characters in middle school students in Thailand,and points out the existing problems.This article mainly includes the following aspects:The first chapter is "analysis of the status quo of Chinese characters teaching in middle school students in Thailand".This chapter analyzes the present situation and existing problems of Chinese characters teaching in Chinese middle school students through the questionnaire survey of some Chinese teachers who teach Thai.These problems include teachers' emphasis on Pinyin but ignore the teaching of Chinese characters,the lack of reasonable teaching methods of Chinese characters,as well as the school Chinese curriculum,curriculum is not perfect and so on.The main problems are caused by the emergence of teachers,schools,teaching materials,Thai writing habits and many other reasons.The second chapter is " Chinese characters' optimization strategy of Thai middle school students teaching".This chapter is intended to explore better and more effective teaching strategiesto overcome the shortcomings of Chinese middle school students in Chinese teaching.These optimization strategies include improving the teaching ability of the students,enhancing the fun of teaching Chinese characters,increasing the input of high frequency words,and constantly consolidating the Chinese characters that have been learned,and often carry out the exercises.The third chapter is " teaching practice based on the 'word-based' teaching method ".This chapter discusses the difficulties and errors of the teaching of Chinese characters in Thai middle school students,based on the author 's teaching practice in Rayongwittayakhompaknam school in Thailand.At the same time,analyzes the causes of the errors from the aspects of negative transfer from the mother tongue,the psychological factors of the students and the teaching methods of the teachers,and then puts forward the practical significance of the "word-based" teaching method in the teaching of Chinese characters in the middle school students in Thailand.
