A Research On Social Adaptation Of Suburban Land-lost Farmers With The Intervention Of Social Work

As a foremost source for producing farmers' means of livelihood,land plays an important role in maintaining farmers' basic living and achieving socialization.However,with the increasing acceleration of industrialization and urbanization,the collective lands of farmers from suburbs are massively expropriated,which has caused the emergence of a new group—land-lost farmers and the number is growing at a fast pace.Land-lost farmers from suburbs are the main part in this new group and they are faced with different kinds of problems about social adaptation during the process of urbanization.On one hand,they lost their basic means of livelihood and source of income-lands and their abilities for resisting social risks have been lowered.Their life becomes harder and they lost the fundamental living security;on the other hand,due to the factors such as the limitation of their own conditions and the fierce social competition,they can hardly find appropriate posts after losing their lands,so many land-lost farmers from suburbs were trapped in the living condition of losing both lands and jobs.More importantly,during the process of urbanization,due to the remarkable differences with city residents on ideology,lifestyles,entertainments and social securities,there are many social problems for land-lost farmers in fitting in community life and proceeding socialization,which affected the social adaptation of land-lost farmers to a large degree.The problem of land-lost farmers' social adaptation has evoked widespread concerns from the society.Take the city of Luoyang offshore area uburban land-lost farmers as an example and by the research methods of questionnaire and individual interviews,this essay aims to make an investigation of 96 land-lost farmers from a resettlement community located in Luoyang offshore area uburban,delineate the current situation of social adaptation of land-lost farmers from suburbs on economic employment,household consumption,social mentality,entertaining social contact and social securities through the statistics and analysis of materials for investigation and interviews.The investigation manifested that on economic employment,land-lostfarmers are faced with difficulties in securing jobs,low income and consumption level and unreasonable consumption structure.On social mentality,land-lost farmers have low identity recognition for themselves.Interpersonal communication is no longer” acquaintance society” and it is hard for them to build new social network relationships.They have strong desires for blending in communities but low awareness of community involvement.There is a contradiction with self-identity recognition.The way of social security for land-lost farmers is single and they have a weak awareness for getting involved in insurances.After plainly analyzing the problems and reasons of aforementioned current situations,along with the results of the interviews,the writer made an elaborate description regarding to the necessity,contents,ways of services and roles of social work intervening land-lost farmers' social adaptation problems.At last,concerning social work serving land-lost farmers' social adaptation problems and combined with the research and investigation towards land-lost farmers in Luoyang offshore area uburban,the writer proposed countermeasures from aspects such as the construction of service system in order to make sure that land-lost farmers from suburbs can better fit in city life.
