New curriculum reform attaches importance to students' subjective status.Only when students participate in the teaching activities,can we realize the construction and development of the subject.Therefore,it is especially important for the students to participate in the classroom teaching.As an important stage for students' learning to lay the foundation,students' participation in primary school,especially the high-grade students' participation is not ideal.There are many problems to be solved.This paper is based on English subject and selects the students of grade five and six in S primary school in L city as the research object.In order to reveal the problems of the high-grade students' participation in English classroom teaching in primary school,the three methods: questionnaire survey,classroom observation and interview were used to investigate the present situation of the high-grade students' participation in English classroom teaching in primary school and it is explored from the three aspects: behavioral participation,cognitive participation and emotional participation.The study found,in behavioral participation,the students' enthusiasm is not high,lack the questioning ability and the study extent is not enough;In cognitive participation,the students' learning strategies are at a shallow level and their autonomous learning awareness are weak.In emotional participation,the students lack interest in English class and have anxiety.The causes of the problems in behavioral participation are: the fair development of students is ignored,students' questioning ability is inhibited and students' thinking time is limited.The causes of the problems in cognitive participation are: the teaching evaluation is utilitarian and students' subjective status is ignored.The causes of the problems in emotional participation are: the type of organization in teaching activities is single and the students' self-efficacy is low.For the problems in behavioral participation,the author suggests: promote the fair development of students to provide every students with the opportunity to participate in the classroom teaching;set up a good teacher-student relationship to cultivate students' questioning ability;arrange the progress of teaching reasonably to set aside more time for students to think.For the problems in cognitive participation,the author suggests: pay attention to the students' multiple evaluation to change the way of students' learning;pay attention to the combination of explaining and students' participation to exert students' subjective role.For the problems in emotional participation,the author suggests: enrich the type of organization in teaching activities to stimulate students' interest in participation;build up student's self-confidence to enhance their sense of self-efficacy.The corresponding countermeasures above can provide reference and basis for teachers to solve the problems of the high-grade students' participation in English classroom teaching in primary school,to improve the students' participation in classroom teaching and promote the development of students' subjectivity.
