Illustrations have appeared in the Chinese textbooks for a long time.As an important resource of Chinese teaching,the illustrations of Chinese textbooks,which are helpful for understanding of texts,are playing a more and more important role for the study of students and the teaching of teachers.However,the illustrations are not well used in the current Chinese reading teaching practice of high school.Most teachers do not fully and comprehensively realize the role and significance of textbook illustrations,so that the important tool of textbooks teaching and learning is failed to be made the best use of.This paper,taking illustrations in the People's Education Publishing House published in the ordinary high school language standard experimental textbook compulsory 1 to compulsory 5(November 2006 second edition)as the object of study,makes a research and exploration in textbook anthology in high school language reading.The illustrations will be classified and discussed according to the location,content and the relevance of the text to make further study and explanation from the two aspects of student learning and teacher teaching illustrations in high school language.Besides,in order to understand the current situation of the teaching of Chinese textbooks in the high school language teaching adopts the questionnaire survey method and conducts a sample survey of teachers and students in depth of front-line of high school teaching.Above all,the data of the frequency and effect of using textbook illustrations;the realization,evaluation and level of concern of textbook illustrations;the practical needs and the influence factor of using textbook illustrations is applied to discuss and analyze.On this basis,the author puts forward some suggestions on the teaching of Chinese teaching in high school by using the textbook illustrations from three aspects of the premises,methods and precautions in order to guide teachers to understand the intention and purpose of arranging illustrations of teaching materials,make effective use of textbook illustrations in Chinese teaching practice and make the best use of textbook illustrations in students' understanding of text.
