Case Work Intervention-A Case Study On Psychological Intervention With The First-born Child's Rejection To The Second One

The one-child policy has certain inhibitory effect on the growth of China's population,however,things changed quietly over the years.The problems of aging population,labor shortage,and increasing “shidu” families(parents that lost their only child)trigger China's adjustment of population policy,so “comprehensive two-child policy" was implemented in 2016.In this context,the structure of families with two children has changed.In face of the sudden change,the first-born child usually bears more psychological stress and tends to reject the second one.In fact,it is not a rare phenomenon and has bad impact on the mental health,study and growth of the first-born child and hence exerts negative influence on family and society.Therefore,this paper will conduct a study on this issue.In the background of "comprehensive two-child policy",the paper analysed the first-child's rejection to the second child based on data and case analysis.First,relevant research concerning the first child's rejection behavior at home and abroad were reviewed through data analysis.It is concluded that rejection to the second child is determined by the psychological characteristics of children,and education and family atmosphere have great influence on the first child's rejection behavior.In addition,the paper analyzed and summarized the common behavior of first child's rejection to the second one and the negative effects that such behavior and psychology cause on the growth of the first child.Then case study was adopted to carry on the psychological intervention with a child and his family bothered by such a problem in order to help the kid get rid of rejection behavior.Based on the date and case analysis,suggestions were made on how to deal with sibling relationship before and after the birth of the second child from the perspectives of family and environment.It elaborated what should do to make the first child psychologically ready for the second child,and how to help he kid adjust to the environment once rejection behavior was found and what the society needs to do to create a safe atmosphere for the first child.It is hoped that the method of psychological intervention with the firstborn child's rejection behavior can serve as an appropriate method to solve the problem.
