The Study On The Role Of Social Worker In The Field Of Juvenile Delinquency

This paper studies the role of social workers in the field of juvenile delinquency,mainly through the participatory observation method,in the local juvenile correctional facility.After a preliminary practice with social work practicing,problems and needs about individuals or institutions,related to the juvenile prison correction,has been analysed.By means of interviews and questionnaires,the possible role orientation of social workers in the juvenile delinquency has eventually been drew,as well as the plight of practicing the role in these correctional services.It is found that the primary problems in juvenile delinquency are the unwillingness to show themselves and the lack of trust to the guards,let alone the involvement of social workers.The juvenile offenders who have no plans for the future require professionals to guide their planning,in which the role of social workers is consultant.In view of facility level,institutions need professional social workers with neutral values.The role of social work assessor satisfies the need to effectively assess the effectiveness of juvenile offenders and clarify the needs of minors.The assistant role of correction workers divides the work of the prison guards in part and reduces the workload of prisoners overload.The role of policy advocates is to meet the needs of the discipline and the satisfaction of relevant policies.For the discipline outside the faculty,the role of the communicator meets the satisfaction of the information between the family and the juvenile offenders,as well as the social resources.The role of community correction planner is to meet the needs of the social work professionals.There are also some dilemmas in the practice of social workers' involvement in juvenile delinquency corrections,which come from the social workers themselves and on the other from society.The difficult role of social workers themselves is mainly due to the lack of professional quality,and their own confusion of the occupation.At the same time,the social sector contributes to the plight of social workers with the low recognition,low professional reputation and the lack of sound protection policy of social workers.Overall,the study expands the scope of mainland scholars theoretically;to a certain extent,it also fills the vacancies in the role of social workers in juvenile prisons,to promote the development of social practice and to improve recognition of social work.
