In the context of the rapid development of science and technology and the promotion of mass innovation,education has also developed a new trend about thought of education concept and education practice reform.The cultivation of innovation ability has clearly become the key to education in modern times and maker education is emerging gradually.Maker education focus on the students' interest,advocate the education concept of “learning by doing”,and improve the students' creative ability and innovative spirit by cultivating students' inquiry ability,problem-solving ability.However,traditional education attaches importance to the imparting of knowledge and ignores the development of capability,while,value classroom teaching and despise activity course,which lacks of innovative thinking and practical ability to adapt to the needs of the future society.Maker education makes up for the inadequacy o of previous teaching,and the education concept,which is neglected in primary and secondary schools in China,needs to be urgently strengthened.So far,however,research of maker education about elementary education in our country is still in the exploratory stage.It has not formed a mature system,as a result,the author studies from the teaching guidance mode,maker space,social media,assessment mode about Albemarle County Public School,and analyzes the strengths and weaknesses for the school to implement,in order to conclude a suitable practice thought for the situation of our country's elementary education,and,meanwhile,provide valuable reference for the development of China's elementary education.This study is divided into six parts:The first part discusses the background of arising of maker education,the purpose and significance of studying American maker education,and related concepts,the review about present situation of the research,and at last,explains the novelty and difficulties of the study.The second part elaborates the appearance of maker education and development of the related theory of education,in the pedagogy,psychology and philosophy aspects which involve “learning by doing” of Dewey,children's cognitive development theory of Piaget,constructivism learning theory,etc.They all provide theory basis for education.The third part is about the development history and characteristics of American maker education.Through teasing the appearance,development and widely spread of maker education,and analyzing six major characteristics of American maker education compared with traditional of education.It can help better understand the American maker education,and lay the foundation for the following case analysis of maker education.The fourth part is about the detailed presentation and analysis of education cases in Albemarle County Public School.The author analyzes the advantages and limitations of Albemarle County Public School in the implementation about maker education,including instructional coaches mode,the use of the classroom,the application of social media,teaching evaluation approach.The fifth part is about the revelation of maker education in American elementary school,including the analysis of the current situation and problems of maker education in our elementary school.The author summarizes the problems existing in the our maker education,moreover,makes requires from the aspects in the establishment of maker space,the professional development of maker teacher,improvement of security system,building of network platform,concluding suggestions and reference for our elementary maker education.The last part is the summary and shortcoming of this research.This part summarizes the author's purpose and enlightenment that has been gotten.That is through the concerted efforts of the government,enterprises,schools,and the society,maker education gradually goes into the our elementary school classroom and education activities,the students' innovation and practical ability should be cultivated from small,so as to promote the development of innovation ability in China.
