Communication is a basic activity of human beings.Interpersonal communication is a ne cessary way to realize socialization for individual,which also guarantee the comprehensive and healthy development for all human beings.And culture plays an important role in the formati on and development of interpersonal communication as the link.From the perspective of cultur e,this paper studied the interpersonal communication of Tibetan college students within their p eer group,analysed the process and result when they communicate with students of the Han nationality,discussed the influence of culture on the Tibetan college students' interpersonal com munication.Using qualitative research method,this research interviewed 7 Tibetan students from China Youth University of Political Studies,analysed the data through the method of context ualization and categorization.The study found that Tibetan students give priority to their own kind in their circle of friends,showing the characteristics of “Baotuan”.Different from Jiade Lu o and so on for the division of Chinese interpersonal network,such as they include friends an d family into the same joint,the status of friends is equivalent to family.Interpersonal communication include the cognition and emotional attitude.On the cognition of interpersonal communication,in face of the contact with the Han college students,they hold the mentality of “lower” and “the outsider”;when return to the circle of friends composed by Tibetan students,they would regain their confidence.On the emotional attitude of interpersonal communication,Tibetan students enhance their collective sense by communicating with members of their circle or participating their activities.Contacting with Han college students,however,they prefer keep mouth shut to avoid conflict and protect themselves.Besides,this study also found that it could be divided into four stages in the formation process of the result of Tibetan college students' interpersonal communication :stage of stereotype,stage of exploration,stage of differentiation and stage of re-stereotype.At different stages,Tibetan college students would have different perceptions about interpersonal communication?They would take different ways and strategies to interact with Han college students accordingly.Because of different culture background,they have formed a different interpersonal communication model.It is the cultural factors that led to their different understanding of friends and the principle of choosing friends.Compared with Han college students,the interpersonal communication model of Tibetan college students have a stronger collective tendency,while Han nationality students has a stronger tendency of individualism.
