With the deepening of education reform,education researchers are more concerned with individual student's subject consciousness.Study shows that only with positive emotion,children are able to learn knowledge efficiently and turn it into skill.If students encounter emotional trouble during learning,they will be easy to be distracted or lose interest in learning,which will also resulted a bad performance in examinations.This is more obvious when it comes to English learning,because learning English requires students to maintain certain learning interest and motivation.Therefore,to resolve the students' emotional trouble in learning English,is key point for helping English underachievers and improve the quality of English teaching.In this paper,we take three primary school students as research object;through field investigation and questionnaire survey we get a comprehensive understanding of the current situation of English Teaching in primary school.Combined with the specific case,we analyzed the cause and character of English underachievers' emotional trouble.In reference to the research achievements of related areas home and abroad,we came out effective strategies regarding to students emotional trouble.This paper is divided into four parts.The first part introduces the background of this subject and the significance of the research and the specific ideas and methods.The second part is to find out the existing problem of English teaching in primary school and the cause of English underachievers through analysis of the questionnaire.The third part states mostly about emotional trouble which is one important factors in resulting English underachievers.The fourth part,based on practical problems we came out effective strategy of helping English underachievers resolve their emotional trouble,which mainly discusses changes that teachers need to make.Finally it is a brief talk about the possible changes from three aspects: the curriculum,parents and school management.The study finally came out a conclusion: emotional trouble is the key reason to cause a bad performance in English.To improve the quality of English teaching in primary school,we need to pay attention to the characteristics and causes of emotional trouble,and also need to take effective strategy to resolve it.In this process,teachers take the main responsibility,need to make changes in teaching idea,teaching mode and method.It also needs parents,school and the whole society to work together to improve this.
