An Empirical Study On The Personal Authority Of College Counselors

The counselor is an important component of the faculty in Chinese universities and colleges,and is the guide for the healthy growth of College Students.The authority of college counselors refers to the strength and prestige,which are based on their own influence,on the basis of obtaining the students' recognition and trust,so as to enable students to be willing and convinced.Counselors with higher authority will have greater cohesion and influence,and will have a more positive impact on students' learning and growth.This paper describes some phenomena of recent years,such as the weakening,lacking and unreasonable using of college counselors,and quantifies and measures the factors of the authority operation,meanwhile,the paper tries to further explore the authority type of students' expectation and makes a comparative analysis of the authority types between authority status and students' expectations on the basis of reflecting the present situation of college counselors' authority,furthermore,some feasible countermeasures and suggestions are put forward to promote the personal authority of College Counselors.First of all,using the method of literature research,we analyze and sort out the literature related to authority.Starting from the three sources of authority,power,mode of operation and personal characteristics of authority,this paper constructs a theoretical model which influences the authority of college counselors,and puts forward relevant theoretical assumptions,then based on the operational definition of the relevant concepts,quantitative research is carried out;Secondly,through the questionnaire survey method to obtain the corresponding data required for the study,and using statistical analysis method to do scientific statistics and analysis of the data,it truly reflects the main types of authority used by college counselors and the authoritative types of students' expectations,and makes a comparative analysis of the two;Finally,according to the results of the study and analysis,the research model is revised,and targeted put forward a specific way to promote the authority of College counselors.
