Language and culture are inseparable.The promotion of Chinese on the international stage is the process of language teaching and the spread of Chinese culture as well.In Germany,more and more middle school students are trying to learn Chinese to understand the Chinese culture.Textbooks are the carrier of culture.However,there are some problems in the cultural content of German middle school Chinese textbooks.Those problems influence the teaching and learning of Chinese culture.The research content of this paper mainly includes the following parts.First of all,this paper analyses the research status of cultural factors,which are relatively complex,and determines to adopt Mr.Zhang Zhanyi's classification idea of knowledge and cultural factors and communicative cultural factors.Then it introduces the current status and problems of Chinese teaching in German middle schools,and analyses the syllabus of German middle school Chinese textbooks,since it is the guideline of textbook complication.Secondly,this paper makes a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the cultural factors in the first and second volumes of three German middle school Chinese textbooks—“Ni shuo ne?”,“Liao Liao” and “The New Practical Chinese Reader(German Edition)”,and launches the research from the perspective of quantity,material selection breadth,import depth and introduction way of cultural factors.Thirdly,this paper carries out a questionnaire survey of cultural factors learning in German middle school students.The questionnaire takes culture as the core.It investigates students' learning motivation,learning attitude,learning interest point,cultural learning difficulties,etc.Through the questionnaire survey,we can understand,from the perspective of the users of the textbooks,which cultural factors should be imported into the German middle school textbooks and how these cultural factors should be introduced.Lastly,this paper puts forward suggestions for the complication of cultural factors in German middle school Chinese textbooks,combined with the results of analysis of textbooks and questionnaires.First,cultural factor should be more than communicative factor.Second,pay attention to the selection of cultural factors,and give an import table of cultural factors.Third,cultural introduction should be hierarchical,and specifically put forward five views.Fourth,cultural factors related to the topic should be introduced and explained,and the order of cultural factors should be reasonably arranged so that the introduction of cultural factors in the teaching materials can be more systematic.Fifth,make improvement in the aspects of pictures,texts,notes,cultural exercises,cultural activities to enhance textbooks' interest.
