The Ethical Dilemma And Choice Of Community Corrected Social Workers

Social work is a helpful professional which takes altruism as the core idea and takes social justice as its mission.It is based on strong professional values,and its activity of helping others is also an ethical practice.Social work ethics is not only a prerequisite for the realization of its professional mission,but also an important foundation for defining professional roles and clarifying professional responsibilities.The research and reflection on ethical practice of community correction social workers are beneficial to their professional growth and are of great significance to the development of community correction social work and social work ethics.This study uses qualitative research methods through in-depth interviews with 14 social workers,aims to explore the local ethical dilemmas and choices in the field of community correction social work.The study found that the ethical dilemmas that community correction workers have in their local practices include confidentiality and flexibility,case-based self-determination and compulsion,conflicts of interest,professional boundaries and value conflicts.In the process of local ethical decisions,the principles followed by social workers are the first in life and stability respectively;the authority and norms are superior to individuals;the efficiency and rights are at the core;the human feelings and relationships are higher than rationality.Subsequently,the author further analysis found that personal traits,ethical contexts,cultural elements and institutional factors interact to jointly influence ethical decisions.Based on this,this article holds that "value decision or cultural decision" and"punishment priority or service priority" are the two fundamental problems in the local community's correction of social work ethical choices.In this regard,community correction social workers need to clarify the concept of self when dealing with local ethical dilemmas,advocate social culture,realize the inherent unity of penalty execution and social work,and further explore the balance between professional ethics and judicial concepts of social work.
