The old people are social vulnerable groups at any time.With the gradually losing of working ability,the access to subsistence information is the most necessary issue for the old to solve.During the 16 th and 17 th centuries,Britain,in its transition period,fell into poverty.And the life of the old people who in the lower classes was rough.The government adopted relief measures to change the living conditions of the old people.In 1531,the relief policy began to take account of the old people.From then on,many relief policies have involved help the old people.By 1601,the Elisabeth's Poor Law formally established relief for the old people.Their life seemed to have changed.This article attempts to analyze the life problems of the old people in Britain before and after the introduction of the poverty policies and explores the changes in the pension model in the late Middle Ages to the early modern.This article also analyzes whether the relief policies have played a positive role for the old people and the part of that the relief policies have not involved.This article is divided into six parts.The introduction part mainly defines concepts,expounds the basis of choosing the topic and related research.The first part is analyzes the social background,social structure and the starting point of the age of the old people.The second part is analyzes the life and pension moderns of the old people in all classes.The third part will analyze the relief for the old people though the regulations and implementation of the policy,explore the change of the pension model and the positive influence of the policies on the old people.The fourth part is from the Poor policy ignored witch relief and discrimination aged to analyzed the blind area of the relief policy.The conclusion part is to affirm the positive effect of the relief policy on the old people.
