The excellent Chinese traditional culture is the sum up of the Chinese nation's moral inheritance,cultural mentality and spiritual symbol as well as the "root" and "soul" of the Chinese nation.Inheriting and carrying forward the excellent Chinese traditional culture plays an important role in strengthening our cultural self-confidence and building our spiritual homeland of culture in the new era.In order to carry out the basic education task of virtue establishment and people cultivation,the core literacy has been taken as the important goal of educating people in the new round of curriculum reforms.Infiltration of Chinese excellent traditional culture in middle school geography teaching is one of the important ways to achieve the goal of establishing virtue and cultivating people,and it is also conducive to the cultivation of students' geographical core literacy.At first,taking the national basic requirements of the contemporary education and the demands for the new geography curriculum standards as well as the needs of social development as the research background,this paper expounds the significance of the research.And the research ideas and methods are put forward through the research results of the traditional culture education at home and abroad.Secondly,by referring to the relevant books such as the Generality of Chinese culture,Human Geography and related geography teaching periodicals,the author defines the relevant concepts of excellent Chinese traditional culture and extracts the excellent Chinese traditional cultural resources which can be effectively used from geography teaching with the geography teaching materials.Thirdly,through designing teachers' and students' questionnaires,this paper investigates the infiltration status of the excellent Chinese traditional culture in geography teaching and summarizes the problems existing in it.After sorting out and analyzing the results of the investigation.The implementation strategy should be put forward.Finally,taking one section of "Common Weather systems" in the first version of compulsory geography textbook of Lu education edition for senior high school as an example to do the teaching design,which provides a reference for the feasibility of the penetration ofexcellent Chinese traditional culture in the middle school geography teaching.
