Research On Business Strategy Of R Port Tug & Barge Corporation

R Port Tug & Barge Corporation is one of main production divisions of R Port Group,specialized in assisting the cargo ships entering and leaving R Port in berthing and departing operations. Over the past 30 years, this corporation has expanded its scale and improved its economic benefits with the increasing development of R Port. Because of single business type and inadequate market development, however, the corporation is operating hardly with downtrend in profits.This research takes the "business strategy of R Port Tug & Barge Corporation" as a subject investigated to conduct analysis and discussion by using the marketing theory and in combination with the actual situation of the corporation. Firstly, describes and analyses the present conditions of R Port Tug & Barge Corporation; secondly, based on the economic trend and shipping situation at home and abroad combing their influence,analyzes domestic economy and port investigate the macro environment of R Port Tug &Barge Corporation, and use the Michael Porter's Five Forces Model, PEST analysis method and SWOT analysis tool to analyze the present business and competition pressure of the corporation; finally, according to the macro-environment, competition pressure and operation and management deficiency of the corporation, specify the development direction and business strategy in future and give management tips. This study suggests that the corporation should carry out the work in terms of reducing the cost of human resource, strengthening the berthing and departing operation in port and maritime traffic operation market, developing the coastal tug market and directing the fire protection monitoring business. Particularly, the sailor shifts shall be adjusted that some ships work two shifts a day to realize the considerable reduction of human resource cost in the near future. Furthermore, the fleet settles in middle port area of R Port to strengthen the berthing and departing market of middle port area. With reference to marine traffic, the different measure and service shall be provided for different customers who have different demands at different condition to optimize the operating effect. It is believed that with the implementation of above measures R Tug & Barge Corporation will strengthen its overallstrength and market competitive power to maintain a good business situation in future production and operation.
