In modern times, science and technology is improving every second, and people's demand is becoming more personalized, which speeds up products'updating, diversifies products, drives market demand to change quickly, and requires a short production lead time. Lean production, as an advanced production management approach, has been widely adopted in many companies, especially Japanese companies for decades, and has proven very effective. By eliminating non-value added action and unnecessary waste, it improves the flexibility of production, realizes the personalized production, reduces costs, and all in all, improves efficiency.AS company is an automotive systems electronic manufacturer, who is facing up with production management problems including high WIP inventory, long production lead time, and low profit margins and so on. This paper, taking it as the research object, begins with brief introduction of the research background, purpose, significance and methods, and follows up the related modern production management theories, lean production especially. Thirdly, under the guidance of the theory and method, it finds out the existing problems of AS company production management. And then, the paper puts forward the improvement scheme as well as the implementation safeguard measures. In the end comes the summary. Through on-the-spot investigation, it shows that the following problems exist in AS company production management:unreasonable production layout, low efficiency of production plan management, material confusion, poor equipment maintenance and poor product quality management, etc. Production layout is unreasonable. Three main production units are independent in space of each other and separated by respective WIP warehouse, which makes the production moving line long and complex, increases WIP stock and production lead time. At the same time, the production plan making system is bloated. Each production unit has its own production plan, and master production plan is difficult to carry out smoothly. Material confusion results in a waste of time such as looking for tools, equipments etc. Equipment maintenance is not good, which leads to waste such as production line stopping unexpectedly. Quality management is not sound, on the one hand, repair and other waste are generated, and on the other hand, lowers customer satisfaction. Based on Lean production management theory, the paper puts forward improving methods, including:optimizing production layout, building the U production line, Integrating production planning institutions, optimization of production planning information system, establishing pull production mode and a fast switching system, strengthening the 5S management, equipment management and quality management, so as to eliminate waste, reduce cost, shorten production cycle, guarantee products quality, and improve customer satisfaction. The research achievements under the guidance of lean production theory stimulate the company to pursue continuous improvement. At the same time, in this paper, the research methods of lean production management can also provide a good reference for other electronic processing enterprises.
