The Study Of The Polysyllabic Words In "Picking Up The Remains"

Disyllablization is an important phenomenon in the history of Chinese vocabulary, especially to medieval times the number of polysyllabic words greatly increased, research on the polysyllabic words of this period also emerge. This paper selects the Eastern Jin Dynasty novel Ghost "Shi Yi Ji" in polysyllabic words as research subjects, its content is rich, the text is reliable, and has the strong spoken language character, to a certain extent can truly record the actual language of the time. The most important, the previous research on "Shi Yi Ji” is more concentrated in the author, version and literariness. I hope that through the research of this topic; can be used as a reference for the study of medieval Chinese vocabulary and even the history of Chinese vocabulary.The main contents of this paper are as follows:The first part is the introduction, a brief introduction to the book and the author, Combing the research status of “Shi Yi Ji” and medieval polysyllabic words, and research methods used in this paper.The first chapter is based on previous studies, combined with the specific language of"Shi Yi Ji”, then determine the standard definition of polysyllabic words.The second chapter is to discuss the types and modes of formation of polysyllabic words. Using the above standards for exhaustive statistics, dentified 1505 polysyllabic words( Except the name, place name, title, etc.), divided into polysyllabic words and polysyllabic function words. In this chapter we only discuss the polysyllabic words, including simple words and compound words. Simple words are divided into reduplicated words, binding words and transliteration words; compound words are divided into combined, partial officia, verb-object, subject-predicate, additional type, supplement type, overlapping type, comprehensive type. Then, from three aspects of semantic, part of speech and word order, are described.The third chapter is to discuss the polysyllabic function words.The statistics of the 28 polysyllabic function words, divided into pronouns, prepositions, adverbs, prepositions, auxiliary verbs, then analyzed from the semantic.The fourth chapter using historical comparative method summarized the characteristics of polysyllabic words in word formation and the development trend of all kinds of polysyllabic words.The fifth chapter summarizes the characteristics of polysyllabic words in “Shi Yi Ji”and its role in the compilation of dictionaries, and then observes the features of vocabulary in Wei and Jin Dynasties.Finally, appendix polysyllabic words.
