Recently,the study of developing thinking and understanding in young children has become a focus of many experts and scholars.As is known by all,the development of young children?s thinking plays an very important role in the whole cognitive process,as well as his or her development afterwards.This paper takes chapter11 in book Developing Thinking and Understanding in Young Children as the translation material.This chapter mainly talks about ways to develop young children?s thinking and understanding.The language of this part is rigorous,and parallel structure has been used in this chapter.According to the logical meaning of sentences and features of conjunctions,the author translates the sentences which contain parallel structure into different types of Chinese complex sentences.Thus the problem of single sentence structure of its Chinese version will be settled.The long sentence causes great difficulties to understand the exact idea of the original text in translation.So in section on case analysis,the author analyzes the translation methods of long sentence according to its features.The author takes the translation of parallel structure and long sentence as example to discuss and work out the concrete translation problems,summarize the translation strategies and write this translation report,with the expectation of providing a reference for the same type of translation.
