Learning of Chinese is of importance and difficulty in the period of learning of Chinese as second language for foreign students.Not only because that the characters come from ancient peoples' life,it is the combination of their creativity and intelligence,it is the evidences of history.But also the two-dimension writing pattern of Chinese characters is far different from the line-dimension writing pattern of letter languages.That's why Chinese characters become the obstacles when learning.There is a strange phenomenon the writer found when contacting with foreign students.Some students usually confuse one Chinese character with another similar-shaped character,some write the wrong character by adding or missing one or two stokes.This phenomenon happens not only because of the several kinds of the stokes and their way of combinations,but also because of one of the specialty of Chinese characters,which is,so called,similar-shaped characters.This kind of Chinese characters which are seemed similar are of course the biggest trouble for foreign students when learning this language.However,students are easy to ignore these little differences.That's why foreign students can't avoid miss understanding when reading or communicating.Although we know the importance of learning and distinguishing the Chinese characters,we should not make it hasty.The very beginning of mastering the language is to grasp dozens of vocabulary and the basic knowledge of the Chinese,or there will be no benefit to both learning and teaching,but only to add the weight of study burden.So,in order to find out the reason why foreign students always make mistakes when writing a character,the writer use the HSK corpus,which leads to the main causing problem——similar-shaped characters.At the same time,the writer figure out that the different standards of characters vary from HSK1 to HSK6,that means the mistakes that happens to primary Chinese character learners can also happens in advanced students' papers.This phenomenon points out a serious loophole hiding in our teaching program.In this paper,the writer takes the secondary standard students as the research characters,and will on the other hand,separate and analyze all the research similar-shaped characters in the textbook the development of Chinese(secondary comprehensive version ? ?).Furthermore,the writer will display the relevant examples in the textbook,which can provide the students with convenience when learning,reviewing and comparing.During the researching,the writer also get some lightening aiming at teaching and hope this paper can bring some advantages in teaching of Chinese as a second language.
