The Application Of Prediction And Waiting Techniques In The Same Interpretation

This report analyzes the importance of anticipation and waiting as the strategies in practical application in simultaneous interpretation(SI).First,based on Gile's Effort Model,the author analyzes the necessity of anticipation and waiting in SI.Second,through the simultaneous interpretation practice of the documentary Jerusalem,the author classifies the types of anticipation and waiting into four categories,namely,linguistic anticipation,extra-linguistic anticipation,prepositional phrase waiting and post-positioned attributive clause waiting.The author also sums up several methods of its use.Last,based on this practice,the author concludes that a qualified interpreter should have the ability of learning of language and expansion of cultural knowledge.
