The Conic section, an essential part in the high school mathematics curriculum, is certain to be tested in the entrance exam every year. It is also the core of analytic geometry research objects, the concrete embodiment of analytic geometry thoughts, and the foundation of analytic geometry.While teaching, I find that the students feel it difficult to learn the conic section and distinguish similar points. Their abilities of computing and symbolic-graphic combination are poor, because they are difficult. Therefore, to understand them is especially important. Not understanding can lead to negative transfer of knowledge and the difficulty in understanding new knowledge. The purpose of this paper is to explore the difficulties while the high school students are learning this part, and to analyze the causes of these difficulties, and then to put forward the corresponding teaching countermeasures to promote students' learning in conic knowledge.In this paper, we mainly study the following contents:(1) In this paper, we first do some theoretical researches on the conic section, define the difficult concepts in understanding the conic section and then interpret the contents and requirements of the conic curve in high school mathematics curriculum standards, especially analyzing the key and difficult points of the conic curve;(2) After making a questionnaire among the students in senior high two and three on their interests, attitudes and learning situations, I find that most of the students can realize their own problems and the objectively existing problems, and they still have the desire to learn;(3) After analyzing the students' tests, I classify the common difficult parts that the students may face in learning, mainly from the definition of three kinds of curves, the standard equation, geometric properties and the comprehensive application;(4) On the basis of students' difficulty in learning and the individual interview, I thoroughly analyze the causes of their difficulties from the aspects of students, teachers and teaching materials in order to make effective strategies to solve them while teaching in the future;(5) According to the various causes of difficulty in learning the conic section, the characteristics of the conic knowledge and the teaching practice, I put forward the corresponding teaching countermeasures from their definitions, the standard equation,geometric properties and the comprehensive application.
