This paper, mainly focusing on the relationship between physical exercises and the psychological health of students in a higher vocational college, belongs to the combination researches on exercise and sport psychology. Based on previous studies, we adopt a plenty of methods into analyzing the relationship,such as literature review, the questionnaire survey, experiment, mathematical statistics and logic analysis.The primary purposes of this paper are to analyze the relationship between physical training and the psychological health of students in a college, and explore in its deep reasons. By training students who are into some psychological problems and comparing the mental statuses before and after physical exercise, conclude that physical exercises have some positive impact on the mental health problems of college students. Our work can be a theoretic basis for students to pick up a right way to face and solve their mental troubles. Moreover, it can be a basic theory for other scholars' further researches in the future.We use a self-report symptom inventory checklist, and issue 1000 questionnaires to freshmen randomly. It shows that 14.76% students have mental health problems. In the next step, we recruit 81 students who have poor performances in the past investigation, and encourage them to accept basketball or running training. After a period, we, with the help of the body esteem scale and body anxiety and depression scale, analyze the psychological status changes of these students before and after the experiment. The results show that mental statuses of students with psychology problems have a very significant difference after a basketball training. The same goes for these students who accept running train. In the detail, the basketball training helps students with anxiety or depression change quite significantly. However, long-distance run has a quite significant influence on students with anxiety, but just influences students with depression significantly.Through this experiment, we concluded that:first of all, physical exercise in some degree can improve the ability to overcome psychological barrier of students in higher vocational colleges. In fact, more important is that the implementation of different physical exercise program has a significant effect on the psychological barrier of the higher vocational college students. From the above experiment, the conclusion from the basketball and the long-distance running sports training is an excellent confirmation.
